bermshot

a simple definition...

What exactly is a bermshot? A bermshot is the art of "using the berm." This definition certainly doesn't do one any good if one doesn't know the meaning of the word "berm". A berm, in a motocross, supercross, BMX, MTB, etc. sense, is an arc of dirt strategically placed (or created) in order to facilitate changing direction in a more expedient fashion. In other words, it helps you turn.

Anyone who has attended a professional motocross event and seen RC, Bubba, or any one of a number of other riders rocket into a turn and ricochet off the berm changing direction with little or no change in velocity has witnessed a bermshot. A simple, artful change of direction with little or no loss in velocity. That about sums it up.
